The update on Borden’s condition was shared after the referee called off the match. The announcement said:
“He is conscious, he’s responsive and they took him to the hospital. The doctor has arrived and they are awaiting.”
Borden had just received the hot tag from Darby Allin and hit a few maneuvers before the collision. He came off the ropes and crashed into Knight, hitting his head as the referee immediately waved off the bout.
The match had a future AEW World Tag Team Championship opportunity on the line. AEW announced the matchup on Dynamite, and Borden entered the pay-per-view after recently scoring his first AEW in-ring win alongside Allin.
