R-Truth’s match with Damian Priest came to an abrupt end during the WWE SmackDown episode on October 16, 2026 after Truth was legitimately hurt following an awkward landing in the ring.

Truth and Priest had been going at it in a physical singles match when things suddenly changed. After Priest went face-first into the ring post, Truth connected with a missile dropkick, but he came down awkwardly afterward. The referee immediately stopped the action to check on Truth before ultimately calling for the match to end. Damian Priest was then declared the winner.

According to False Finish, the situation was legitimate and the match did not end the way WWE had planned. That explains why the referee quickly stepped in instead of allowing Truth and Priest to continue with whatever finish had originally been laid out.

The injury also changed what happened immediately afterward. Priest brought a steel chair into the ring following the stoppage, but Fraxiom came down to help Truth.

There was no immediate word on exactly what Truth hurt or how serious the situation may be. For now, the key detail is that the stoppage was not simply part of the storyline. Something legitimately went wrong during the match and WWE had to end it early.

Hopefully R-Truth avoided anything serious, but having a referee stop a match and abandon the planned finish is always going to raise concern. More information should make the situation clearer once Truth is properly evaluated.
