Britt Baker stepped into a CMLL ring for the first time Friday night, and the AEW star wasted no time making an impact at Arena México. Baker teamed with Persephone for the occasion and walked away with the victory after forcing Thunder Rosa to submit.
Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. made her CMLL debut alongside Persephone in a tag team match against Rosa and Tessa Blanchard. The finish saw Baker lock Rosa in the Lockjaw, forcing the submission and giving Baker and Persephone the win in the semifinal match. CMLL celebrated the result after the show, writing:
“Victory for Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and Persephone! The powerful combination of the AEW star and the Goddess of CMLL proved too much for Thunder Rosa and Tessa Blanchard, who fell in the semifinal match of #ViernesEspectacularCMLL.”
Baker also leaned into the occasion with American-themed gear for her first appearance inside Arena México. Her arrival wasn’t completely out of nowhere. Persephone had teased bringing Baker to CMLL the previous week before the promotion officially announced the match on Tuesday.
Baker’s first night in CMLL ended about as well as she could have hoped, with the former AEW Women’s World Champion getting the deciding submission in one of Mexico City’s most famous wrestling venues. Now the question is whether her Arena México appearance was a one-off or the beginning of something more with CMLL.
