AEW apparently heard the reaction to its newest faction name loud and clear, because “The Last Outfit” didn’t even make it through the night. After Jay White introduced the name on Collision, the group quickly got a rebrand following a wave of backlash from fans.

White had announced during the October 24 episode of AEW Collision that his new alliance with the Bang Bang Gang and The Dogs would be known as The Last Outfit. The name immediately caught heat online, with plenty of fans making it clear they weren’t exactly sold on it.

Things changed pretty quickly after the show. AEW uploaded a new video of White cutting a promo on Twitter, and this time he introduced the faction under a completely different name — The Cut. White worked the new name into a promo that also took aim at Jon Moxley and the Death Riders. He described his crew as the group capable of finally cutting the Death Riders out of AEW.

“We are top-shelf high rollers, the golden gun slingers, some dirty dogs, your Collision cowboys. We are the last outfit capable of slicing out the cancer that is Jon Moxley & the Death Riders from the heart of AEW!”

White then dropped the group’s new name at the end of the promo. After introducing The Last Outfit only hours earlier, the faction was now being presented as The Cut.

“We are The Cut.”

The sudden switch comes after The Last Outfit name received a ton of negative reaction from fans following Collision. With AEW releasing the new promo after the show, the faction’s original name appears to have been dropped almost immediately in favor of The Cut.

The group itself hasn’t changed, as White remains aligned with Juice Robinson, Ace Austin, Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, David Finlay and Clark Connors. Finlay and Connors joined forces with White and the Bang Bang Gang on Dynamite after the group went after the Death Riders.

White had even teased bringing back the Bullet Club name before originally settling on The Last Outfit. That carried some extra weight considering both White and Finlay previously led versions of Bullet Club during their time in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Now the group has already gone through two names before its run has really gotten started. Whatever AEW ultimately has planned for White’s new crew, The Last Outfit appears to have had one of the shortest runs of any faction name in recent memory.
