Block 1:
Taz opens today’s show by getting right into his thoughts about last night’s episode of Smackdown Live.
He points out that a lot of people are already calling Jinder Mahal’s promo racist, and Taz has a hard time disagreeing with that notion. He adds that if a white male was out there saying those things it wouldn’t even be a discussion; that person would be deemed a racist and WWE would be having huge issues this morning.
Taz understands that Mahal is a heel but with all the racial tension in today’s world, he doesn’t think there’s any need to have this type of content on a sports entertainment show. He adds that you probably know you’ve gone too far when the live audience starts chanting, “That’s too far”.
He admits that WWE is trying to be a little edgier with their programming right now as they go head to head with Monday Night Football, and he appreciates their efforts in that sense. However, he thinks this went too far and he thought it was low brow cheap heat. He also thought it put Nakamura in a bad position, because the only response we saw from Nakamura was a 10-second backstage interview.
