Welcome to Monday Night Raw, and we’re only 6 days away from SummerSlam!
While SmackDown has had it’s SummerSlam matches set in stone for a while now, Raw’s are still falling into place. Tonight’s show will see that all shake out, particularly with the Raw Women’s division. Bayley was scheduled to face Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam for the Championship but a shoulder injury has put her on the shelf. Last week we saw two Triple Threat matches and this week the winners of those matches, Sasha Banks and Nia Jax, will face-off to determine the number one contender. It’s anyone’s guess who will face Bliss at SummerSlam but it should be a fun match nonetheless.
The Universal Championship scene has been a four-man clustermuck – to paraphrase Steve Austin – for what feels like half the year now. Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns destroyed each other again last week in a Last Man Standing Match, which ended when Samoa Joe clambered out of the crowd and choked Roman Reigns out. It’s unclear if Brock Lesnar will be on Raw tonight but I would guess he will be and I reckon The Beast will run rampant through all three guys to give him some momentum ahead of the big show. I like Brock but I think Raw needs a full-time Champion and a great one-on-one feud to bring some normality back.
Speaking of Brock Lesnar, last week The Beast interrupted The Miz on his talk show when the host asked for Jason Jordan. It seems The Miz and Jordan will face-off at SummerSlam for The Miz’s Intercontinental Championship. I think these two could have a really good match but it’s a weird situation because Jordan isn’t exactly a babyface, and better yet, he would make a fantastic heel with Kurt Angle being a heel manager in his corner. I’m not sure if it’s the right time for Jordan to win a title but it could make him even more disliked. I expect the two to come to blows tonight and I wouldn’t be surprised to see The Miztourage beat him down quite badly.
Elsewhere on tonight’s show, we will see Finn Balor and Bray play one-upmanship again, and Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose likely get booked for a title shot against Sheamus and Cesaro. All that and more to look forward to on tonight’s Raw, so strap in and get ready for the final drive towards SummerSlam!
