CM Punk famously left WWE in 2014, marking a period many fans saw as one of the company’s worst. Although Punk returned at the 2023 Survivor Series Premium Live Event, Seth Rollins revealed he had reached out to Punk a few times during his absence to see if he was interested in coming back.

While speaking in an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Seth Rollins talked about his relationship with CM Punk. Rollins explained that they had been friends until Punk’s departure and had a mentor-mentee type of relationship at the time. After Punk left, Rollins sent texts and made calls to check in, but he didn’t feel comfortable pushing too hard due to the dynamic between them, with Punk being more established in WWE.

Over the years, Rollins made a few attempts to reconnect and see if Punk had any interest in returning to wrestling. However, he said that Punk never responded and instead took opportunities to criticize him publicly whenever he could.

“Yes, we were friends till he left and we had a mentor-mentee kinda relationship at that point. I sent him some texts and called him after he left, but I wasn’t comfortable enough with him, we were peers but he was here and I was here so I didn’t push that envelope. Even over the years I reached out to him a couple of times to try to like, engage and see where he was at and see if he was interested in coming back. And nothing, no response. Except, when he got a chance, he’d talk as much crap as he could.”

Seth Rollins was ultimately defeated by CM Punk during the January 6th edition of RAW on Netflix. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see what’s next for both of them, as it’s likely their feud might not be over just yet.
