Maria Kanellis’ time in AEW could be coming to an end sooner than expected. The former ROH Women’s Division creative lead and AEW manager has reportedly extended her contract through January, but her future with the company remains up in the air.

Originally, Maria mentioned that her AEW deal was set to expire at the end of October. However, sources now confirm via Fightful Select that both parties agreed to a short-term extension, running through January. While there were initial plans for an announcement regarding her contract status, it never materialized.

Maria has worn many hats in her wrestling career, transitioning from in-ring competition to creative roles in recent years. While she hasn’t wrestled since 2019, she played a pivotal role in ROH’s women’s division during the Sinclair Broadcast Group era. Since joining AEW/ROH, Maria has primarily worked as a manager, but she’s reportedly been open to stepping back into a creative role for the women’s division.

Maria Kanellis has always been a trailblazer in wrestling, whether she’s managing talent, crafting storylines, or commanding the ring. With her AEW contract winding down, fans are left to wonder if this is the end of her chapter with the company or the beginning of a new journey in the industry. Either way, you can bet Maria isn’t done making her mark just yet.
