Sheamus has been part of the WWE family since his debut back in 2009, and he stands out from every single Superstar thanks to his pasty complexion, which is now a crucial part of his character. Sheamus has now explained how his pasty complexion became part of his character.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Sheamus was asked whose idea it was to make his pastiness part of his character and why he chose to go with it. Sheamus explained that the idea to embrace his pasty complexion as part of his character came from his friend Ray, who also works with him on his channel.
Sheamus stated that he used to do the opposite by using fake tan and shaving his head, trying to look like everyone else. Ray told him to stop and said, “You already look like the most Irish guy ever, so why try to blend in?” That advice helped Sheamus see that his unique look was something he should embrace.
“Actually a good friend of mine Ray, same guy who I have with me in my channel. He’s like a bleeding Pandora’s Box of ideas. I was doing the opposite. I was using fake tanner, shaved my head and I was just trying to look like everybody else, not knowing what I had that my look was so unique it was something I should lean into. So he was like, ‘What are you doing, man? You look like the most Irish fella on the planet and you’re trying to look like everybody else.’ So he was the one who snapped some sense into me.”
The Celtic Warrior officially signed a new multi-year contract extension with WWE and it’s clear he will continue to shine on WWE television now that we are officially part of the Netflix era. By staying true to himself, Sheamus has built a lasting legacy in WWE, showing that being unique is the key to standing out in the world of professional wrestling.
