WWE delivered a standout episode of NXT on January 7. With heightened attention on the company, Shawn Michaels aimed to start the new year with a memorable show.

Roxanne Perez finally put the NXT Women’s Championship Giulia on the line against Giulia once again. This time, they were kicking off 2025 with this big title defense. This match started off the show this week, and the two fought in a back-and-forth match through a commercial break.

When they returned from the break, Roxanne Perez nailed a risky dive to the outside, which shifted momentum and brought huge “NXT” chants. Then Giulia was able to take control soon after that, but it only resulted in another near fall.

Giulia was able to avoid Pop Rocks, but she ate a stiff dropkick that took her to the outside. After the battled on the outside, Cora Jade showed up and helped Roxanne get in the ring.

Perez nailed a Pop Rocks, but Giulia kicked out. Then the referee kicked out Cora Jade, and Giulia nailed a knee before hitting a Northern Lights Bomb for the win. Now we have a new NXT Women’s Champion.

This match between Roxanne Perez and her opponent tonight was a long time coming. Giulia has been impossible to miss since she burst onto the scene in WWE. She had a fantastic tenure in Japan, where she became a top name. After a stint in Rossy Ogawa’s new Marigold promotion, she was on her way to NXT where she immediately became a problem for The Prodigy. Now the Beautiful Nightmare is on top of the women’s division.
