Hulk Hogan’s promo during WWE RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6 didn’t go as planned, with the Los Angeles crowd loudly booing the Hall of Famer. While promoting WWE and his Real American Beer product alongside longtime manager Jimmy Hart, Hogan’s attempt to win over the audience fell flat. Now, former WWE and TNA star Elijah Burke is weighing in, taking shots at Hogan’s reception and his political stances.
Burke took to Twitter to comment on the situation, writing, “Hahaha… Hogan thought Cali was gonna 4get? Hogan screwed Hogan because while this was @WWE Netflix Debut, they should’ve waited until they got to a ‘Red State’ to bring on Hogan who was overly boisterous & opinionated during the presidential election.”
The boos for Hogan sparked comparisons to The Undertaker, who also has public ties to Donald Trump. When a fan brought this up, Burke clarified the difference in his view: “Undertaker is not a Trump supporter… Mark Calloway is… Therefore fans could care less about his personal views, he was not shoving it down their throats & certainly not using his Undertaker persona to promote it. Hogan is Hulk Hogan everywhere he goes and there’s no separation.”
Burke didn’t stop there, adding, “Folk act like it’s Hogan’s first time back since racist remarks. He’s been back PLENTY of times on #WWERaw never got that type of reception. #HulkHogan was a poster boy for Trump’s campaign. Had #DonaldTrump walked out the boos would be ‘greater than any boos you’ve ever heard.’”
Hulk Hogan’s polarizing legacy continues to spark reactions, and Elijah Burke’s fiery comments have only added fuel to the fire. Whether it’s his political affiliations, past controversies, or simply the crowd’s mood, one thing is certain—Hogan’s reception at WWE RAW’s Netflix debut won’t be forgotten anytime soon. As the conversation heats up, fans are left to debate if Hogan can ever reclaim his status as a universally loved icon.
