WWE had the entire pro wrestling world’s eyes on them as WWE RAW made its Netflix debut on January 6 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The night was full of big matches, and the Women’s World Title was a big part of the show.
The Women’s World Championship was on the line as Liv Morgan took on Rhea Ripley. This was a title defense that Morgan tried to run from, but there was no denying The Nightmare her rematch for that title.
This Women’s World Title match went down After Roman Reigns beat Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match. John Cena had also already showed up to psych up the crowd with his promise of winning the 2025 Royal Rumble.
As these two continued, Ripley did a lot of the heavy lifting, with Morgan selling the attack. While the referee was distracted, Liv Morgan nailed an Oblivion on a chair thanks to Dominik Mysterio distracting the official. Then Ripley was able to kick out. Despite all their best efforts, the match continued.
Fans in LA were more than ready to see Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley collide, as the Women’s World Champion sold to her challenger’s attack. Then Rhea nailed a Rip Tide, but Morgan was able to kick out. Finally, Rhea was able to hit two more Rip Tides and win the match to become Women’s World Champion once again.
After the match was over, Dominik Mysterio got in the ring and tried to hug it out with Rhea Ripley. After a bit of acting, Rhea actually ended up nailing Dominik with a low kick to the crotch and a Rip Tide for good measure.
This was quite a match to kick off the Netflix Era for WWE. Now we have a new Women’s World Champion on the red brand, and fans were very happy to see The Nightmare pull down the title.
