WWE RAW debuted on Netflix on January 6. The event took place at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, and the all star lineup for the show was on a WrestleMania level.
John Cena’s 2025 retirement tour kicked off during this week’s RAW, adding another huge attraction to the card. The 16x World Champion was on hand to start things in a strong way, and he had a packed arena to help him out.
After Roman Reigns beat Solo Sikoa in a Tribal Combat match, WWE decided to follow that contest up with the Greatest of All Time. He started off by praising the company’s Netflix debut, as they are airing live around the world at the same time for the first time ever.
After John Cena thanked Netflix for bringing fans WWE RAW he thanked WWE for giving him the platform in the first place. Cena brought up how close his history with the LA market, as it is where he got his start on the indies, he brought everything back to his retirement tour, so he could say “thank you.”
It didn’t take John Cena long to being up the idea of breaking Ric Flair’s record with another World Title reign. This idea brought “you deserve it” chants from the fans in LA, but he also said he didn’t see that happening, because it’s been so long since his last win in WWE. Then John Cena declined from saying “never say never” but he did say it’s not looking likely to get a match for the World Title, unless he wins the Royal Rumble. That brought a huge pop from fans.
John Cena pitched the idea of winning the Royal Rumble, and fans were all about it. Although he said it sounds impossible to get that magic ticket to WrestleMania, he isn’t about to give up. Then he proclaimed that he will win the Royal Rumble on February 1 in Lucas Oil Stadium.
John Cena will only do just under 40 dates for his retirement tour. Considering that there are 52 weeks in a year, that means WWE fans will see a lot of the Peacemaker star. Only time will tell if he gets that 17th World Title along the way.
