WWE RAW’s big Netflix debut finally went down in the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California on January 6. It was a massive night, and anything was on the table. After all, WWE brought a couple matches that they had discussed for WrestleMania.

CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins finally went down during the historic January 6 episode of WWE RAW. This was a long time coming, and neither Superstar was going to have to wait any longer.

This match was the main event of the show this week. CM Punk came out second, and he received a huge reaction from the LA crowd.

This match got going, and both men had a back-and-forth contest. They fought outside the ring and then returned to the new snazzy black RAW ring to continue their battle. Rollins had control of the match for a good portion in the early goings.

CM Punk turned things around for himself as he caught Seth Rollins with his guard down. The Second City Savior nailed a swinging neck breaker from the top rope that hurt both competitors.

Fans were split down the middle with Seth Rollins and CM Punk chants. This was Punk’s first match on RAW in about 11 years, which only made it so much more special.

This match included Seth Rollins catching CM Punk’s crossbody block from the top rope, and he turned it into a GTS. That sent Punk rolling out of the ring as he sold his own finisher. When they returned to the ring, Punk nailed Rollins with a Stomp, which was an even trade-off, but Rollins kicked out of a pinning attempt.

“CM Punk” chants filled the building as they continued. Rollins blocked a GTS before he hit another one of his own, but Punk kicked out at two. Then Punk avoided a Stomp as he rolled out of the ring. They ended up on the announce table, where Rollins nailed a Pedigree on the table, but he hurt his knee in the process.

They got back in the ring, and Rollins hit another Pedigree on CM Punk for a close near fall. As the show crept into overrun territory, the two still had gas in the tank. Both competitors battled on their knees, and they rose to their feet while throwing punches. Then Rollins nailed a bucklebomb and a Stomp on Punk, but he got his foot on the rope to break up the pinfall.

“This is awesome” chants rang out in the building as Rollins placed CM Punk on the top turnbuckle. Fans starting chanting “this is awesome” as Seth Rollins was countered into a GTS by CM Punk, but he picked Rollins up once again for good measure and nailed a second Go To Sleep to secure the clean win.

Rollins vs CM Punk was actually booked for WrestleMania 40, but the Second City Savior’s injury ended those plans. This was a big change that saw Drew McIntyre step in, and it resulted in his brief win, followed by Damian Priest cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Throughout his injury hiatus, Rollins never let things settle with Punk and they finally threw down on Netflix.
