Monday Night Raw’s upcoming transition to Netflix will bring about quite a few changes from January 6, 2025 as fans are excited to be a part of WWE’s new era. Many fans expect that WWE television will now have edgier content and profanity due to their Netflix move and now Triple H has made it clear he feels constant profanity on television is simply lazy.

While speaking to Jimmy Traina on SI Media, Triple H criticized the use of constant profanity on television, calling it a lazy approach. He talked about the Attitude Era, when swearing and violence were common but eventually lost their impact. He explained that people used these tricks too much, making the shows feel forced instead of exciting.

“When you don’t do something for so long the smaller things can be massive. I lived through the Attitude Era where everybody was bleeding all the time, everybody’s saying what they want to say, it’s not edgy anymore, you look like you’re trying too hard. You have to be disciplined with it.”

The Game mentioned how Vince McMahon decided to stop the constant swearing and violence at the end of the Attitude Era, which upset many wrestlers. However, Triple H thought it was a good move because relying on bad language was an easy way out and just lazy.

“There was a moment in time where Vince very specifically said at the end of the Attitude Era, we’re stopping all of that, cold turkey and everybody lost their mind talent-wise. I remember thinking to myself this is a good thing, we all got lazy to the crutch of being able to do, it’s easy to go swear and say other stuff and use language. Is it powerful? Yeah, but it’s lazy.”

While it can be powerful, he believes creating emotional and memorable moments without it takes more creativity and effort. Triple H expressed pride in delivering a product that avoids these crutches while still engaging fans. He believes this approach leads to better storytelling and ensures a safe environment for everyone involved.

“You can say something so much more impactful and make people feel something without that, it takes more effort on your part and more effort on your team to do it. I like to think we can deliver on that and deliver a better product without it, we don’t need to and it keeps it a safe place for everybody.”

Nick Khan has already confirmed that WWE will remain a family-friendly product following its Netflix transition. As WWE enters a new phase, Triple H wants to focus on creative stories instead of using shocking moments. His goal is to keep WWE fresh and up-to-date without relying on old tricks and that’s all that matters in the end.
