David Finlay defended his IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship against Yota Tsuji at Wrestle Kingdom 19. This match had been building for a long time due to the deep history between the two competitors.

Yota Tsuji entered the match with great determination, hungry to finally defeat Finlay and put him down for good. Tsuji delivered several of his signature moves, including Tsuji Falls, in his effort to take down Finlay.

Tsuji continued his offense with a splash in the corner and a headscissors, followed by an impressive flip to the outside. The move instantly took David Finlay out, leaving the crowd in awe. Afterward, the two got back into the ring and exchanged hard-hitting shots before Finlay delivered a powerful clothesline that sent both competitors spilling to the outside.

Finlay regained momentum by slamming Tsuji into the ring post on the outside. He followed up by putting Tsuji through a table with the Irish Curse. Tsuji barely managed to return to the ring as the referee’s count reached 19, but as soon as he got back inside, Finlay launched another attack.

Tsuji refused to let Finlay take control, delivering a solid kick to Finlay’s face while he was resting on the top turnbuckle. However, Finlay countered with a devastating powerbomb. He followed up by hitting Tsuji with three Dominators, but Tsuji showed incredible resilience by kicking out.

Tsuji regained momentum once again, but Finlay quickly hit a Gun Stun and Oblivion. Despite these devastating moves, Finlay still couldn’t put Tsuji away. Tsuji then hit a massive spear, but even that failed to finish off Finlay.

The closing moments of the match saw Tsuji landing some massive elbows on David Finlay, followed by a headbutt and a curb stomp that dropped Finlay to the mat and after countering all of Finlay’s moves, Tsuji hit a devastating spear to pick up the win and become the new IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion.

This loss may not come as a surprise for many considering the fact that David Finlay’s contract with NJPW will be expiring soon, so it’s likely he will join another company. Regardless, fans are happy to see Tsuji finally become a champion in NJPW and so we’ll have to see how he will be booked as the champion in the coming months.
