WWE Raw is gearing up for a monumental change as it moves to Netflix on January 6, marking the first time the flagship show will no longer air on linear television. The transition brings with it a new level of flexibility for the program’s format and runtime, as revealed by Triple H during an appearance on the SI Media podcast with Jimmy Traina.

Triple H explained that moving to Netflix allows WWE to break free from traditional TV constraints. “It will be flexible. I don’t necessarily know the time constraints of network television or cable television apply. It’s a slightly different platform,” he said. “If this episode needs to be an hour, great, it’s an hour. If the next episode needs to be 42 minutes, it’s 42 minutes. It’s what makes for the best product.”

When asked about an average runtime, Triple H mentioned his ideal duration for a WWE Raw episode. “For me, the perfect show time is somewhere in the two-and-a-half-hour range. Years ago, two-hour shows didn’t always have enough real estate to tell all the stories, but three hours could sometimes feel long. Somewhere in the middle is a sweet spot.”

He also highlighted how live television formats have historically limited their storytelling. “There are constraints of commercial time. If you run a segment that is scheduled for 10 minutes and it goes 17 minutes, you’re now 17 minutes into a show and have to find places to pull that out. All of that makes it difficult. I think we’ll have more freedom in the format,” Triple H noted.

This new partnership with Netflix opens the door for greater creative flexibility. WWE can tailor each episode to fit its storytelling needs while aligning with Netflix’s business model. For fans, this could mean more streamlined content, eliminating filler while maximizing storytelling potential.
