At the NJPW Wrestle Dynasty event, the International Women’s Cup tournament saw Persephone, Athena, Willow Nightingale, and Momo Watanabe competing against each other to prove who was the best and earn a chance to challenge for any championship they wanted.

The match started with fast-paced action as Momo Watanabe took control early on. Willow Nightingale tried to surprise her with a roll-up pin but couldn’t secure the win. Momo and Willow then had an impressive back-and-forth inside the ring, which ended with Willow taking Momo down with a strong backbreaker.

Persephone returned to the ring and easily tossed Willow aside with an SOS. Athena then re-entered, taking down Persephone with a suplex followed by a strong kick to the midsection. Eventually, Willow and Athena squared off, with Willow overpowering Athena and showing off her strength. She even delivered an impressive double suplex to both Persephone and Momo at the same time.

Momo Watanabe cleared the ring by taking out both Athena and Willow. However, Athena quickly bounced back with a huge cannonball to the outside. Persephone followed up with an impressive twisting press from the top rope to the outside, but Willow managed to turn things around, regaining control of the match.

Persephone hit a few impressive dives and delivered a German suplex to Willow but couldn’t secure the three-count. Momo returned to the ring and took control of the match, hitting a B Drilla on Willow, but Athena broke up the pin just in time.

Athena and Momo had an intense back-and-forth sequence before the others joined in, turning the match into pure chaos. Athena then delivered a stunning double codebreaker from the top rope on Willow and Persephone. She piled them on top of each other and tried to get the pin, but it wasn’t enough for the three-count.

Persephone and Willow exchanged some impressive moves and near falls, earning applause from the crowd. Athena then returned and delivered a brutal slam to Persephone on the apron.

The final moments of the match saw Thekla causing a distraction, allowing Momo to strike Athena with a bat. Momo then hit her finisher to secure the win, thus she now has the right to choose a champion of her choosing from any of the involved promotions. Now it remains to be seen who will end up becoming Momo Watanabe’s opponent once and for all.

It was then confirmed that Athena will defend the ROH Women’s World Championship against Thekla at Stardom’s Korakuen Hall show on January 13th following Thekla’s distraction that cost Athena the match.
