Lacey Evans, who showed great promise as a heel during her WWE career, departed from the company in 2023 and since then, she has kept herself busy with her own projects. With that said, Evans has now revealed what she hated about her time in WWE.
While speaking on her YouTube channel, Lacey Evans revealed what she hated most about her time in WWE, focusing on how the job kept her away from her family. She explained that homeschooling her daughters now allows her to bring them to her café, teach them important skills like work ethic and professionalism, and spend quality time with them. This is something she couldn’t do during her wrestling career because of the constant travel and long hours away from home.
Evans talked about how different her life is now as these days, she can cook for her family, decorate her home, and enjoy a slower pace of life. In WWE, the pressure to stay in shape and constantly perform made it hard for her to have the family life she wanted.
“I do homeschool my girls, so it’s really cool that not only do I get to bring them to the cafe with me, but also put them to work and show them work ethic, teach them professionalism—all those good things—while being with my kids. That was one thing in WWE that I hated the absolute most. I was active duty Marine Corps all the way, and, you know, I didn’t deploy and got to see my kids every day. Then I went into WWE and was away from my kids so much, and I hated that.
The lifestyle is so different now; not only am I able to be home to cook for my kids, cook for my husband, and decorate the house—just enjoy life and slow living—you can’t do that in WWE. It was very, very difficult, not only to be able to reproduce because, you know, you’ve got to keep that body, but it was very difficult to lead a life that I personally wanted for my children.”
Lacey stated that she is happy to be with her kids every day, free from the stress of performing for others. She now focuses on spending quality time with her children and doesn’t worry about pleasing fans or coworkers or how her wrestling moves looked on TV. Her new life allows her to prioritize her family and enjoy simple moments that truly matter. It’s a big change from her WWE days, and she loves having the freedom to live life the way she wants.
“I get to be with my kids every day. I get to still show them work ethic. I get to hear them, see them, smell them, be with them without the stress load of having to be a performer and be everything for everybody else. Now I get to be everything that I want to be, all the time, no matter who thinks what or whose opinions—I don’t give a s***. I get to wake up every day, be with my babies, guide my babies, spend quality, slow-living, one-on-one time with my babies, and not care about what people think about me or how I’m doing, or what my slingshot elbow drop looked like while I was live on a Monday Night Raw, and then what I post on social media. It’s wild. So now I get to do what I want and soak in those valuable times with my family.”
Lacey Evans has also expressed her belief that AEW’s schedule aligns better with her needs. Nonetheless, Evans is clearly enjoying her life outside WWE right now and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
