The Rock made a surprising comeback at the Bad Blood Premium Live Event, getting fans excited about what he will do next. While there is still no certainty he will actually appear at WrestleMania 41, it appears that WWE higher-ups expected him to wrestle at the Showcase of the Immortals.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that WWE Executives at the top believe The Rock might wrestle at WrestleMania 41. Meltzer noted that there was initial talk of him competing for the Raw title, with a potential match against Cody Rhodes involving the People’s Belt and another championship.
Plans are not set in stone, as The Rock usually has the freedom to choose what he wants to do. Some top WWE officials are expecting him to wrestle, but it’s still uncertain. Meltzer notes that the upcoming Netflix show on January 6 could provide some clues about his plans for WrestleMania. Additionally, there’s speculation that The Rock might have another match, possibly involving the title match he initially wanted after WrestleMania.
“At first it was the Raw title given Rhodes vs. Rock would be for the other title and People’s belt. This isn’t etched in stone because whatever Rock wants to do, he’s likely going to be able to do. I do know that people are expecting him to appear on the show in some form. As for wrestling on the show, I even know people at the top who are expecting that, but it’s not a sure thing and one would think the Netflix show on 1/6 will kick off the season and tip the hand. Rock could do another match even though WWE title vs. People’s title was what he wanted after Mania.”
Chris Featherstone previously reported that WWE is moving ahead with creative plans as if The Rock won’t be at WrestleMania. However, he pointed out that these plans could change if The Rock’s schedule opens up.
The Rock has spoken out about rumors that he won’t be at WrestleMania, telling a fan on Instagram, “Don’t believe any of that bull****.” Sean Ross Sapp also supported Chris Featherstone’s report, saying that while WWE wants The Rock to be part of the show, it’s ultimately up to him.
With WrestleMania 41 coming up in just a few months, fans are excited and unsure about The Rock’s plans. Whether he faces Cody Rhodes or not, The Rock’s status for WrestleMania 41 will remain a huge topic of discussion for good reason.
