The WWE Universe will have to wait to see Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins back in action, as the Street Profits have been sidelined with injuries.

WWE SmackDown GM Nick Aldis broke the news, revealing that both Ford and Dawkins suffered re-aggravations of prior injuries during recent live events and will be out “for the foreseeable future.”

This unfortunate development shakes up Friday’s SmackDown plans. With the Street Profits out of commission, DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) are stepping up to defend their WWE Tag Team Titles against the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin). The matchup promises to be a hard-hitting encounter between two of wrestling’s most technically gifted teams.

The Street Profits’ last appearance was a victory over Los Garza (Angel & Berto) on the December 27th episode of SmackDown. They also competed the following night in a four-way tag team match as part of WWE’s Live Holiday Tour, which may have contributed to their current setbacks.

Fans are no doubt disappointed to see Ford and Dawkins on the shelf, but this opens the door for other tag teams to shine in their absence. Whether the Profits will return stronger than ever remains to be seen, but their absence will surely leave a void in the division.
