Wrestling legend Kurt Angle isn’t just a Hall of Famer in the ring—his life story is cinematic gold.
Speaking on Talk Is Jericho, Angle shared exciting updates about the upcoming films based on his incredible journey from Olympic glory to wrestling superstardom. The two-movie project, directed by Eshom Nelms and Ian Nelms, will split his life story into two epic parts: one focusing on his Olympic achievements and the other chronicling his WWE and TNA career.
When it comes to casting, some big names are on the table. Angle revealed, “We have in mind Michael Keaton to play John du Pont. Jon Bernthal, my nephew, is gonna play my father, which will be really cool.” As for who will step into Angle’s iconic shoes? Gabriel LaBelle, an up-and-coming Canadian actor, is the frontrunner. “He’s a really popular upcoming actor. The thing is, he needs to put a little more size on his body, but I don’t think that’ll be a problem for him,” Angle explained.
The directors are aiming to start filming in late spring of 2025, and Angle confirmed that investor talks are ongoing while casting decisions are finalized. With such an inspiring story and powerhouse names attached, these films are shaping up to be monumental for fans of both sports and entertainment.
This two-part Kurt Angle saga promises to be a must-watch for fans of wrestling, sports, and inspirational stories alike. With names like Michael Keaton, Jon Bernthal, and Gabriel LaBelle being floated, the excitement around these films is only growing.
