WWE SmackDown brought a big episode to Phoenix, Arizona for the January 3 episode. The blue brand was moving to three-hours, and some surprises were expected. Drew McIntyre couldn’t miss this huge episode.
During the opening segment of WWE SmackDown this week, Drew McIntyre came out to interrupt Cody Rhodes’ promo. It was made pretty clear that he is now a part of the blue brand as part of the company’s transfer window. Michael Cole brought up the transfer window while talking up Drew during his entrance.
When McIntyre got in the ring, he surprised everyone by hugging Cody Rhodes instead. Many would have expected him to take some aggression out on him, due to his recent partnership with Roman Reigns.
Drew McIntyre had a message for Cody Rhodes. He warned him to take it easy, because Cody isn’t cleared to compete due to Kevin Owens’ piledriver. Of course, Cody Rhodes didn’t listen. In fact, Cody told Drew that he didn’t trust him.
In the end, Cody Rhodes didn’t want to hear Drew McIntyre’s warning, so the Scottish Warrior left. Before he departed, Drew told Cody to watch his back, and then Kevin Owens jumped Cody, and they brawled a bit in the ring.
Drew McIntyre feuded with CM Punk throughout 2024. Their rivalry peaked at WWE Bad Blood in a Hell in a Cell match, where Punk emerged victorious. Since returning on the December 2 episode of WWE Raw, McIntyre has built momentum while setting his sights on the Original Bloodline, because he still has a bone to pick with Roman Reigns and everyone who supports him. We will have to see what is in store for him now.
Drew McIntyre has been through quite a bit over the last year. At this point, the WWE World Title doesn’t even matter to him. His battle with CM Punk may be over, but now it appears that he is on to his next journey in WWE.
