Professional wrestling is a harsh and unpredictable world where injuries are a constant risk for talent no matter what. In fact, it appears that a current AEW star has been absent for a long time due to an injury and is currently on the path to recovery following surgery.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider recently held a Q&A session where he answered questions from fans. One fan asked Johnson what was going on with Matt Sydal, who hasn’t been seen on AEW television for a long time. Johnson confirmed that the high-flying star is recovering from a long-needed foot surgery, which has kept him out of action for several months already.
Matt Sydal has been very unfortunate when it comes to injuries during his career, as he had previously missed out on several months worth of in-ring action back in 2022 after suffering a knee injury.
The AEW star last competed against Konosuke Takeshita in a singles match on the May 22 edition of AEW Dynamite, where he would lose to the Japanese Superstar. There’s no confirmed timeline for Matt Sydal’s return, as his surgery and recovery are essential to his long-term health and future in wrestling. It remains to be seen if he’ll be back in the ring this year, especially as AEW has entered an exciting new era.
