AEW Dynamite’s streaming debut on Max was supposed to be a game-changer, but instead, it left many fans seeing red.
While the show boasted a fresh intro featuring The Pointer Sisters and a visually upgraded presentation, the buzz was quickly overshadowed by the uproar over commercials—even for those paying for Max’s ad-free tier.
Social media erupted with fans venting about the unexpected interruptions. Unlike TBS, which provides picture-in-picture during ad breaks to keep viewers engaged, Max completely cut away from the action for full-screen commercials. For fans accustomed to uninterrupted action on platforms like Fite TV, this was a major letdown.
“I’m not surprised, but I am gonna complain about having ads on my ad-free version of Max,” @silkyzubat.bsky.social wrote. Others shared the frustration, including @teecozee.bsky.social, who wrote, “Wait, so Max has full ads while TBS has Picture in Picture? Not cool. Not cool at all. #AEWDynamite.”
Fans who opted for the ad-free plan expressed their outrage, with @shamemonster.bsky.social adding, “Uh… commercial free ain’t commercial free? Not cool. #AEWDynamite #AEWonMAX.”
The issue caught many off guard, including @fixurheartordie.bsky.social, who posted, “Well, we know if there’s commercials or not on the Max feed now, RIP. #AEWDynamite 🤼.”
It’s clear that AEW fans aren’t holding back their frustration over Max’s ad situation, especially those paying for an ad-free experience. Whether AEW or Max will address the backlash remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure—the fans aren’t letting this one slide anytime soon.
