WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch has been dealing with serious legal issues, including a DUI manslaughter case that has greatly affected her life. In fact, it appears that a Florida court has rejected her appeal in connection with her DUI manslaughter conviction.
According to PWInsider, the District Court of Appeal of Florida’s Fifth District has upheld Tammy “Sunny” Sytch’s conviction from November 2023. Sytch was sentenced to prison for multiple charges, including DUI Manslaughter, causing death while driving with a suspended license, DUI causing injury, and DUI causing property damage. This ruling means that the Court has rejected Sytch’s appeal in the DUI manslaughter conviction.
Sytch had filed an appeal, but the court affirmed the original trial court’s decision without providing an opinion. Her court-appointed lawyer withdrew from the case, stating the appeal lacked merit. Although Sytch was given an opportunity to file a legal brief to argue further, court records show she has not done so even now.
Sytch is currently set to be released from the Florida Department of Corrections on 9/23/39, following her sentencing on 11/28/23 to 17 years in prison, along with 8 years of probation. She was transferred from Volusia County Corrections to a prison facility in Ocala, Florida.
On top of her prison sentence, Sytch is facing a lawsuit filed by the estate of Julian Lasseter, who tragically lost his life in the March 2022 car accident involving Sytch. The lawsuit seeks damages over $30,000, alleging that Sytch was intoxicated when she rear-ended Lasseter’s vehicle in Ormond Beach, Florida, causing injuries that led to his death the same day.
The lawsuit claims Sytch’s actions also led to significant medical and funeral costs for the Lasseter family, and that his adult daughter has suffered emotional distress and loss due to her father’s death and the legal proceedings are set to begin on 3/25/25.
Despite her fame in the professional wrestling world, Tammy Sytch’s current situation is a result of her own actions. With her legal troubles and prison sentence, it’s unclear what the future holds for her. Unfortunately, things don’t look promising and we’ll have to wait to see how her case develops in the coming months.
