The December 30 episode of WWE RAW went down in Houston, Texas’ Toyota Center. There was a lot of hype for the future of the brand, and they also set the table for a big match planned for next week.

Seth Rollins and CM Punk are set to do battle during the red brand’s debut on Netflix. That being said, the two were in the same building for RAW this week. The two had a chance to speak their minds during the final segment of the last episode of RAW on the USA Network.

The Visionary and Second City Savior had their segment after the finals match was set in the WWE Women’s IC Title tournament. Rollins took to the ring, and Houston was more than happy to sing his song.

Seth Rollins was there to hype his match against CM Punk, as he said that Punk was “self-proclaimed best in the world,” but Rollins was the real best in the world. After Rollins made a crack about Punk taking his ball and going home, the former UFC fighter came out to join Rollins.

The tension was thick when CM Punk got in the ring. The ex AEW World Champion called Seth Rollins’ dig “a bootlicker line.” Then Punk asked if Becky Lynch took her ball and went home too. He didn’t like the fact that Seth said that he abandoned the WWE fans.

CM Punk said that he has zero regrets, but he doesn’t want to talk about the last ten years. He wanted to talk about the last ten months. Rollins then said that Becky Lynch is taking a break to raise their kid, and Punk wouldn’t know what that’s like. He referenced Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast and that controversial appearance, and how things didn’t work out when he went to AEW, but he didn’t name AEW or Colt Cabana directly.

That is when CM Punk said that he loved WWE, but he hated the guy in charge, “but he loved you.” That was an obvious reference to Vince McMahon, and fans in Houston reacted in a big way. After Punk said he left WWE because he had to, he said that it took years to remove all the damage. He also mentioned that he returned to WWE after fans kept chanting his name for years, mostly during Seth Rollins’ segment.

Seth Rollins then called CM Punk a cancer to his face. He said he’s a cancer to the locker room, the business, and even his brain. This was quite a way to cap things off before the two collide.

This is a heated rivalry, and only time will tell how it pans out. We may only see the first of many CM Punk vs Seth Rollins matches, but they are certainly ready to throw down on January 6.

It was already noted that WWE had actually considered CM Punk and Seth Rollins’ match for WrestleMania. Only time will tell how it all pans out next week on Netflix, but this will certainly be one for the record books.
