The infamous pizza cutter moment in question occurred during Gage’s AEW debut match against Chris Jericho in 2021. As Gage sliced Jericho with his signature weapon, the segment coincided with a picture-in-picture ad for Domino’s Pizza. The shocking visual didn’t sit well with Domino’s or other corporate sponsors, putting AEW in hot water and complicating Gage’s potential future with the promotion.

While Gage continues to make waves in deathmatch wrestling, AEW’s focus on balancing high-profile matches with broader corporate appeal makes his hardcore style a tough sell.
