WWE RAW is wrapping up an impressive run on the USA Network, and the December 30 episode saw several big moments, including figuring out who will battle in the finals of the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
Iyo Sky took on Lyra Valkyria for a semifinal match during RAW this week. Both of them are looking to prove themselves, as they have both held titles in the company, but Lyra has yet to hold one on the main roster.
Previously in the night, Dakota Kai beat Zoey Stark to secure her spot in the finals. Later on in the show, it was IYO Sky’s chance to get that other spot to face her Damage CTRL partner, but she needed to get through Lyra Valkyria first.
IYO and Lyra got to wrestle through a commercial break, as they traded advantages, and the match continued via picture-in-picture. When we got back from commercial, Lyra maintained control of the match.
There were a few near falls in this match, as the fans in Houston cheered both competitors on. In the end, the finish came after Lyra got out of the way of an Over The Moonsault from IYO, and then Lyra got a bridging pin on her and secured the win. That set the finals for Lyra vs Dakota Kai.
The new Women’s Intercontinental Championship was unveiled during a segment on the November 25 edition of WWE RAW. The final match in the tournament will go down during the January 13 episode of WWE RAW on Netflix.
