The December 29 WWE live event at the Allstate Arena in Chicago was one for the history books, and CM Punk’s reaction after his steel cage battle against GUNTHER gave fans even more to talk about.

In an Instagram story following the event, Punk expressed his gratitude for the roaring Chicago crowd while throwing in a jab at Dominik Mysterio, who interfered in the match.

“New York, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Chicago. Thank you to everyone who bought a ticket to see us. Chicago. What can I say? I love you with all my heart. Been over ten years since I was able to wrestle in what I will always call the Rosemont Horizon. It is my privilege. Two million dollar houses, on our way to a third in Houston. Proud of everyone on the crew who worked hard and made it all possible except little Dominik Mysterio, who is a greasy twat,” Punk wrote.

The steel cage match itself was chaotic, with GUNTHER retaining his World Heavyweight Championship thanks to Dominik’s interference. After the match, Dominik teamed up with Kofi Kingston, Carlito, and Xavier Woods to attack Punk, only to face a heroic save from Rey Mysterio, Otis, and LA Knight. The night ended with an electric series of spots, including Rey hitting a 619 on all the heels and Punk delivering a GTS, followed by Otis and LA Knight pulling off synchronized “worm” moves to the crowd’s delight.
