Tony Khan is very happy about how AEW has been able to achieve so much. A lot of big things have happened over the past five years, but some fans still come down on everything the company does.
AEW Worlds End went down in Orlando, Florida tonight, and there is a lot to unpack after the event is over. One thing we know for sure is that Tony Khan is very happy about everything that his company has been able to accomplish.
Despite AEW achieving a lot of benchmarks in 2024, including securing a new media rights deal with Warner Bros Discovery, they are often panned by critical fans. During the media scrum after Worlds End, one member of the media had a chance to ask Tony Khan about the negativity that his company faces.
Tony Khan praised AEW for everything that they’ve been able to do in 2024, and he also spoke down on people who have taken their accomplishments and diminished them. He brought up their All In show at Wembley Stadium as well, as Khan maintained a very positive outlook on what his company has done so far.
“I think there’s a lot of great, positive things. I think there’s a lot of great things in what we’re doing, like it is the best year in the history of AEW in achieving a goal, and that’s really saying something. Last year we made a lot of history going to Wembley Stadium, we sold 81,085 tickets, we set the world record in tickets sold, and even then people tried to poke holes in what we did last year.”
“People said we only sold 73,000, but even if we did sell 73,000, people are saying that’s a bad thing, what an amazing achievement to have the kind of success of we had at Wembley Stadium.”
Tony Khan went on to plug AEW’s new media rights deal and their move to MAX’s streaming service. He said that this was the big goal for AEW, to do something sustainable, and this is an excellent deal for the company.
Only time will tell what is in the future for Tony Khan and AEW in 2025. They are very excited about the things that are to come, and they certainly have a passionate and loyal fan base.
