AEW’s Worlds End went live from the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida, with a stacked card from Tony Khan. Among the highlights, the AEW Women’s World Title was defended in a Tijuana Street Fight.
The AEW Women’s Championship was on the line in a Tijuana Street Fight as Mariah May defended her title against Thunder Rosa. This match greatly favored Rosa, but May is no stranger to getting her hands dirty.
This match went on third of the night after the second Continental Classic semifinal match. Thunder Rosa’s father was on hand to watch the match live, and that added even more to her story going into the match.
There were plenty of weapons, and they started off with the brutality early on in this one. Thunder Rosa made sure to do a thorough search underneath the ring to fill the ring with foreign objects. The two also didn’t limit the action to the ring, as they fought up the ramp as well.
During the brutality of this match, Thunder Rosa kicked out of a May Day on a pile of thumbtacks. Then Mariah May took Thunder Rosa’s father’s cane, only to have it used on her by Rosa later on. When they returned to the ring, Rosa choked May with a chain until Maria May threw some dirt in Thunder Rosa’s face and then she sent her through a table with a piledriver.
After the piledriver spot through that table, Mariah May got the clean pinfall. This match allowed for a falls count anywhere situation, so the table spot at ringside transitioned into an easy pinfall.
We will have to see how Mariah May’s 2025 shapes up. Her 2024 was pretty outstanding, but Toni Storm’s return to AEW in her retro character could eventually come around to meeting Mariah May for the first time in the ring.
