Jim Ross Believes Drew McIntyre’s Recent Outburst Was a Work

Drew McIntyre’s stock has only been rising each and every week for the entirety of 2024 since he is able to blend reality and kayfabe at an expert level. His recent outburst on Busted Open Radio made headlines and now Jim Ross believes the whole thing might have been a work.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, Jim Ross talked about Drew McIntyre, praising his work in WWE. Ross called Drew McIntyre reliable, tough, and a great asset to WWE. Talking about Drew’s recent comments on Busted Open Radio, Ross believed it might have all been a work, saying if it was, they did a good job of working him.

“I have a lot of respect for Drew, and I’m proud of his success. WWE has got a good one with him—he’s reliable, durable, and hopefully, all his issues, if there are any. Hell, I don’t know; I think they were working us all. If they were working us, they sure got me!”

Drew McIntyre recently called out several people for their opinions online as well as colleagues who never tried to check up on him when he had to take time off. This made many fans wonder whether McIntyre was speaking from his heart and led to a ton of discussion.

“I gave and gave and gave, but as far as wrestling on TV is concerned, I’m going to take and take and take. The lack of contact and the look on my family’s face, realizing everything that I’ve missed—that’s why I’m just going to take from now on. When I leave this industry, I won’t be one of those guys chasing that last paycheck, chasing that last shot of glory. Please remember me? No. When I leave and retire, I will have accomplished everything. It doesn’t matter if you’re Mark Henry, Bully Ray, Tommy Dreamer, Drew McIntyre, or Stone Cold Steve Austin—when you’re gone, they move on. They forget. It sucks, but it’s true. As far as I’m concerned, when it comes to the internet, I don’t give a f*** about your opinion.” 

Drew McIntyre remains one of WWE’s most valuable assets and it’s clear he has a ton of ambitions heading into 2025, especially since he is determined to become a World Champion again. While it’s unclear whether McIntyre’s remarks were a work, it got people talking and that’s all that matters in the end.
