NJPW Strong Openweight Champion Gabe Kidd isn’t holding back when it comes to AEW. Ahead of his upcoming showdown with former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega at NJPW x AEW Wrestle Dynasty, Kidd took a sharp jab at both Omega and AEW’s working relationship with NJPW.
In a fiery interview posted on NJPW’s YouTube channel, Kidd made it clear that he has no interest in signing with AEW, taking aim at how he believes talent is handled there. “I don’t give a sh*t if AEW want to sign me,” Kidd stated. “What, so I can go and turn up to TV, be Tony’s new toy? Go on Dynamite, have a couple of matches, and then sit and cater for 23 weeks doing fuck all, flying to Toledo, Ohio, to do what? A show in front of a crowd that has seen five hours of wrestling already? I have no interest in that at all.”
Kidd went on to criticize what he sees as AEW’s lack of professionalism and accused NJPW of being too passive in their partnership. “We are getting our pants pulled down and dogged by the rest of the wrestling world because of being professional. Unprofessional. Maybe it’s time to talk a bit of sh*t, and if they have anything to say about it, they can come and chat to me.”
Kidd even hinted at confronting AEW boss Tony Khan, adding, “If I ever go to AEW, I’ll be reading him his rights and telling him what a f*cking idiot he is. That’s that.”
With his match against Omega looming, Kidd’s outspoken comments are bound to turn heads in both NJPW and AEW. Fans can expect the tension between these two to explode at Wrestle Dynasty.
