Tay Melo was one of the mainstays of AEW’s women’s division but she has not stepped foot inside the squared circle for well over a year. While it appears her in-ring return has been confirmed, she will actually be competing outside AEW for her comeback.
During the latest STARDOM show, it was officially announced that Tay Melo will be teaming up with Mina Shirakawa to square off against ROH Women’s Champion Athena and Thekla at STARDOM’s New Year Dream show on January 3rd at the Tokyo Garden Theater.
Sammy Guevara’s wife has been absent from the ring since March 2023 as she gave birth to her daughter Luna Melo Guevara and she has been working hard to make her in-ring return since then.
While it is certainly interesting that Tay Melo is not competing in AEW for her in-ring return, it’s still a huge deal for her to finally make her triumphant comeback after almost 22 months.
Tay Melo’s return is a big moment, as it’s her first match since becoming a mother. It shows her dedication to balancing her personal and professional life. Her comeback in STARDOM shows her worldwide popularity and her readiness to step outside her usual wrestling scene, so we will have to wait and see how she will perform in her in-ring return next year.
