The legal battle involving Vince McMahon, WWE, former executive John Laurinaitis, and ex-WWE employee Janel Grant continues to develop, with Laurinaitis now officially backing WWE’s push to move the case to arbitration.

On December 24, Laurinaitis submitted a motion to the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, aligning with WWE and McMahon’s earlier claims that arbitration is the appropriate forum for resolving disputes related to Grant’s settlement agreement with the company.

In his filing, Laurinaitis emphasized that, as a full-time WWE employee during the events in question, he is covered as a “released party” under the settlement agreement. This designation, he argues, shields him from lawsuits like the one brought by Grant. Laurinaitis doubled down, stating that arbitration is the “sole and exclusive method” for handling any issues arising from the terms of the agreement.

McMahon’s legal team has similarly argued that Grant’s decision to file a lawsuit violates the arbitration clause within the settlement agreement, which requires any disputes to be resolved through arbitration rather than litigation.

Grant’s attorneys now face a January 13 deadline to respond to these motions. Legal experts anticipate that her team will argue against arbitration, possibly contending that the terms of the agreement are either invalid or inapplicable to her claims.

As this high-profile legal saga unfolds, WWE and McMahon’s camp remain steadfast in their bid to move the dispute out of the courtroom. Ringside News will keep you updated as additional information becomes available.
