Finn Balor is not letting Santa off the hook this Christmas. Following his defeat to GUNTHER in the triple-threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main Event, Balor took to Twitter with a tongue-in-cheek jab at jolly old St. Nick.
“Good Rib Santa,” Balor tweeted on Christmas Day, along with a photo of a championship WWE title belt under a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The post oozes frustration, as Balor seemed to poke fun at the irony of a championship belt appearing under the tree after he came up short in his quest for gold.
The December 23 event at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum featured an electric match between Balor, Damian Priest, and GUNTHER, with the latter defending his title in a grueling contest. The three stars tore the house down, trading near falls and high-impact moves that had the crowd chanting, “This Is Awesome.” Ultimately, GUNTHER sealed the deal with a powerbomb on Balor, leaving no room for doubt as he retained his title.
Balor’s tweet is being read as a sarcastic nod to his disappointment after coming so close to reclaiming championship glory. While Santa might not be the one handing out titles, it’s clear that Balor isn’t thrilled about the holiday gift he didn’t get.
