AEW Worlds End is just days away, but many fans feel there are still several matches the company should have announced by now. In fact, there is now speculation about the possibility of another major match being added to the card mere days before the event.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Swerve Strickland and Bobby Lashley’s segment during the December 21st edition of AEW Collision.
During his promo, Strickland stated that he would get his hands on Lashley before the end of 2024, but he didn’t explicitly challenge him to a match. No official announcement was made for the Worlds End pay-per-view, but Meltzer felt the promo strongly hinted at the possibility.
With time running out before Worlds End, Meltzer was speculating that the match will be confirmed during the upcoming Wednesday show. AEW currently has eight matches announced for the event, leaving room for several more additions to the card.
“He cuts a promo and it was very bizarre. He just said, ‘Lashley, I said that I was gonna get my hands on you before the end of 2024’ and that was it. He didn’t challenge him to a match or anything. They never announced a match for the pay-per-view. It sounded like he was challenging for Worlds End but he didn’t actually do it. He just said I vowed to get my hands on you by the end of 2024, so I guess that match is on Worlds End. It has not been announced, it’s not like there’s lots of time left. Are they gonna announce it Wednesday? They might. They should have announced it on this show. They got like 8 matches so far for Worlds End so we got at least 6 more.”
Bobby Lashley and Swerve Strickland have been feuding for the past couple of months now, so it is expected they will finally end their heated feud at the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 28th. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see when AEW will finally decide to announce the match.
