The WWE Vault YouTube channel is turning back the clock and celebrating the legacy of ECW, unveiling a never-before-seen design for the WWE ECW Championship that was rumored to debut back in 2007-08.
During this time, CM Punk held the WWE ECW Championship, but the mysterious new design never made its way to television. Punk’s reign came to an end in January 2008 when he lost the title to Chavo Guerrero Jr. A redesigned ECW Championship eventually surfaced in July 2008, but fans are now getting a look at what could have been.
WWE ECW’s rebirth lasted until February 2010, when the brand was officially discontinued. However, its legacy has endured, with WWE Vault dedicating an entire week to celebrating ECW’s iconic moments, complete with special uploads showcasing the history of the extreme brand.
The reveal of this unused championship design offers fans a nostalgic look into the era and leaves many wondering how the title could have shaped the brand’s visual identity during its WWE run.
What do you think of the previously unseen WWE ECW Championship design? Should WWE have used it back then, or do you prefer the title design that was eventually unveiled? Drop your thoughts below and join the conversation!
