Mr. Kennedy had a promising future in WWE and was even supposed to defeat The Undertaker to win the World Title. However, that never happened, and he was eventually released. Even then, his feud with The Undertaker is still remembered by fans and now Kennedy has revealed how Vince McMahon reacted to a big production botch during one of his matches with The Deadman.

While speaking to Rewind Recap Relive, Mr. Kennedy revealed a story about Vince McMahon’s reaction to a huge botch during his Last Ride Match with The Undertaker at Armageddon 2006.

Before the match, the team was planning how to make it exciting. Michael Hayes suggested Kennedy take a chokeslam off a big scaffolding near the entryway. When Vince McMahon joined the discussion, he said it would look better if The Undertaker took the bump instead and The Undertaker wasn’t too happy about it. Vince then told The Deadman about jumping off the scaffolding himself before they decided Kennedy would throw The Undertaker off it.

“Michael Hayes was our producer, and it was Taker, and Michael Hayes standing by the entryway because there was this big scaffolding that connected over the walkway where you came out. Michael was like, ‘Do you think you could take a chokeslam off there?’ You know, we were figuring out what bump I could take that would be impressive.

I remember Vince came by, and Michael just said, ‘What do you think about a chokeslam off there?’ Vince stopped for a second, looked up, and goes, ‘It would be far more impressive if Taker went off there.’

Taker just looked at him like, ‘You m***********.’ Vince said, ‘You want me to go up there? I’ll jump off there.’ Then he’s like, ‘No, I’m good.’

To make it safe, crash pads were hidden behind barricades so the fans couldn’t see them. However, during the live show, a camera accidentally zoomed in and showed The Undertaker lying on the pads for too long. Kennedy noted that Vince McMahon was furious about the production botch and yelled at the production team to change the camera angle. Unfortunately, the mistake made it to the broadcast, ruining the illusion.

“I remember looking over at him. They wanted to get the camera shot, and I heard Vince yell, ‘Goddammit, take a different angle!’

If you watch the tape back, the crane cam zoomed in and showed Taker basically lying on those mattresses for way too long. It was brutal. That’s exactly what you don’t want. But I could hear Vince yelling, ‘God, what are you doing? Take a different shot!’”

Vince McMahon demanded perfection in matches, so it’s understandable that he was upset when a production error overshadowed what was otherwise a solid match between Mr. Kennedy and The Undertaker. Nonetheless, fans can see why McMahon would react strongly to such a mistake, given his high standards for WWE events at the time.
