Professional wrestling is all about having big stars who are known outside the ring. Lately, people from outside wrestling, like The Costco Guys, have become popular in the industry. In fact, Joey Janela even claimed that The Costco Guys are more popular than Roman Reigns among casual fans.
Joey Janela took to Twitter recently and shared his thoughts on wrestling fans criticizing the Costco Guys, pointing out that they are more popular and recognized than most professional wrestlers due to their silly internet videos, despite never performing moves like a Canadian Destroyer.
“I love wrestling fans on here s****** on the Costco guys when they are more over and more well known the 90% of professional wrestlers by doing the stupidest f***** videos in the history of the internet & all while never taking a Canadian destroyer.”
Joey Janela then followed up with another tweet, claiming that if Roman Reigns and The Boom Crew were placed in Washington Square Park, and regular people had to choose between them for a photo, most would pick the Costco Guys. Janela then stated that Tony Khan should book MJF versus Big Boom AJ for AEW’s HBO Max debut, predicting it would skyrocket ratings.
“If you put Roman Reigns and The Boom crew in the middle of Washington square park unexpectedly a told normal civilians that they could only take a picture with one 70% would choose the Costco guys. Tony should book MJF vs Big boom AJ on the HBO max debut, and watch the ratings go BOOM!”
There is no doubt that the Costco Guys are a huge deal on social media right now and they have made many media appearances over the past several months and Tony Khan never fails to use them as much as possible.
The Costco Guys are reaching a huge audience beyond the usual wrestling fanbase, showing that in the internet age, fame doesn’t always depend on being in the wrestling ring but many fans might disagree with Joey Janela’s remarks no matter what.
