Drew McIntyre’s fiery outburst on the Busted Open Holiday Party live stream may have set social media ablaze, but it also caught the attention of legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross.
During an episode of Grilling JR, Ross opened up about extending a hand of support to the Scottish Warrior, proving that sometimes, the wrestling brotherhood goes beyond company lines.
“That was heavy, wasn’t it?” Ross said, reflecting on McIntyre’s no-holds-barred comments about his legacy and personal sacrifices. McIntyre’s viral mic drop and subsequent tweet, “F*** you for making me do this,” painted a picture of a man unafraid to speak his truth, but Ross saw someone who might need a friend.
Ross revealed that he reached out to McIntyre via Twitter, offering his ear and his wisdom. “I sent him a tweet, and I’ve known him since he got started. I’ve commiserated with him on many occasions. He had some marriage issues back in the day and so forth. I sent him a tweet that I’m always here for you.”
For Ross, this was less about wrestling politics and more about friendship. “It’s not an AEW/WWE relationship. It’s JR being friends with some talents, and he always valued my opinion. I just wanted to let him know that there’s somebody out there that didn’t have a dog in the hunt. If you just want to shoot the breeze, talk, I’m available.”
Ross’s genuine care for McIntyre comes from a place of admiration and respect. “Maybe I could help him. Maybe I could help him become more positive and less angry. I have a lot of respect for Drew, and I’m proud of his success. WWE’s got a good one with him.”
Jim Ross’s heartfelt gesture reminds us that, even in the world of wrestling, it’s the human connections that truly matter. As Drew McIntyre continues to carve out his legacy, it’s clear he’s got seasoned allies like JR in his corner.
