AJ Styles has been out of action after suffering a severe Lisfranc injury during the October 4 episode of WWE SmackDown. While he remained absent, Styles made an appearance backstage at TNA Final Resolution and now Matt Hardy has revealed what went down during Styles’ appearance.
While speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Matt Hardy shared details about AJ Styles’ backstage appearance at TNA Final Resolution last week. Hardy said it was great to see AJ again and catch up with him. One of the topics they discussed was their shared interest in cold plunges, which AJ is as passionate about as Matt and Jeff Hardy.
“Speaking of AJ, it was great—we saw AJ backstage. Yeah, how was that? It was great, man, great to see him and catch up with him. I got to talk to him about cold plunges. You know, he has a cold plunge addiction like myself and my brother.”
AJ Styles asked Matt Hardy if he ever hesitates or paces back and forth before getting into the cold plunge. Matt explained that he doesn’t hesitate and is always ready to dive in because it wakes him up and energizes him. Hardy added that Styles admitted it’s tough to get started but said he feels much better afterward and is always grateful once it’s done.
“He asked me, ‘Do you hesitate? Do you kind of pace back and forth before you get into it, or are you just ready to get into it?’ I told him, ‘I’m ready to get into it, man. It wakes me up, and I just go.’ He said, ‘It’s hard getting into it, but I’m so grateful when I get out of it because I feel so much better.'”
Hardy described the reunion as a positive experience, adding that he’s admired AJ since they first met. He praised AJ for being a great guy who hasn’t changed over the years, calling him a good Southern boy like himself and Jeff Hardy. Hardy said it’s always a pleasure to see “good ol’ Alan Jones.”
“Yeah, it was good. It was great to catch up with him, man. I’ve loved AJ since I first met him. He’s always been a great guy, one of those people who’s never changed. A good Southern boy like me and Jeff. It’s always great to see good ol’ Alan Jones.”
There is no doubt that the presence of AJ Styles added a nostalgic touch to TNA’s rich history at Final Resolution and Matt Hardy was definitely happy to see his old friend at the show. As for Styles’ in-ring return, there is no indication he will return anytime soon as his injury is a severe one, so only time will tell if Styles will be able to make his television return in time for WrestleMania 41.
