WrestleMania 41 could deliver one of WWE’s biggest matches yet, as talks are heating up about a potential showdown between CM Punk and Roman Reigns. The idea has been gaining traction backstage, setting the stage for what could be an unforgettable moment in wrestling history if it comes to fruition.
This wouldn’t be the first time Punk and Reigns have faced off. Their one and only televised singles match took place during WWE’s Old School Raw in January 2014, where Reigns came out on top. That bout became infamous after Punk revealed in a post-WWE interview that management told him to “make Roman look strong,” a directive that became a lasting talking point among fans.
Fast forward nearly 11 years, and it seems both men might finally get the chance to settle their unfinished business on the grandest stage of them all. Sources indicated to Fightful Select that CM Punk himself has expressed interest in the matchup, despite past reports that Reigns wasn’t thrilled about Punk returning to WWE.
“We’d heard a number of weeks ago that this wasn’t particularly the plan, but had been adjusted of late. We’re told that CM Punk had also hoped for the match.”
While this potential WrestleMania clash is generating plenty of excitement backstage, the card is still subject to change. Sources say WWE is keeping its options open in case The Rock decides to step back into the ring. If The Great One confirms his involvement, it could reshuffle major plans, including the Punk-Reigns storyline.
“We’re told that this is a drastically different direction than what had been planned for both talent even a couple of months ago, none of which involved the Rock. It was noted to us that if The Rock informs WWE of involvement in WrestleMania, much of the card could change, including this.”
This WrestleMania season is shaping up to be one for the ages, with CM Punk and Roman Reigns potentially stepping into the spotlight for a match that could rewrite history—or be overshadowed by The Rock’s return. WWE fans are on the edge of their seats, and with so much at stake, anything could happen.
