Big E is opening up about the devastating injury that has kept him out of the ring since March 2022. The powerhouse wrestler suffered a broken neck during a match on SmackDown after a botched suplex from Ridge Holland. While he’s not been medically cleared to return, Big E says he’s feeling good despite the severity of the injury.

“I broke my neck, two and a half years ago, in three places, including my C1 in two places. I still haven’t been cleared,” Big E revealed during a recent appearance on The Mike Broomhead Show. “Thankfully, I feel great and don’t have any issues, nothing like that. Didn’t need surgery. I was in a hard collar for three months. There are very real risks.”

Big E detailed the accident, explaining how the botched suplex changed everything. “We had a suplex that went wrong, and I’ve been out since,” he said. However, the New Day star remains optimistic and grateful for how his recovery has gone. “I’m grateful to have no issues, no pain, nothing like that.”

Since his injury, Big E has taken on new roles within WWE, appearing on kickoff shows and serving as an ambassador for events like the Fiesta Bowl. Despite his positive outlook, fans were stunned earlier this month when he appeared on WWE Raw and was kicked out of New Day by his longtime partners Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston. The emotional segment saw Big E walk away from the group, signaling a major shift in his on-screen story.
