WWE’s global reach is set to grow even further in 2025 as the company continues its expansion into international markets, according to Chris Legentil, WWE’s executive VP of talent relations and head of communications. Speaking on the Sports Business Journal Sports Media podcast, Legentil highlighted the company’s strategy for premium live events (PLEs) and how their new partnership with Netflix will shape the future.
“This year alone, we did more than half our (premium live events) outside the U.S.,” Legentil explained, referencing WWE’s increasing focus on international audiences. With Netflix now on board, WWE plans to use the streaming giant’s insights to strategically select global locations for future events. “We’re going to be working with them hand-in-hand to select locations across the world where we can grow our audience and hopefully gain some subscribers for them.”
In 2024, WWE staged eight of its 12 PLEs outside the U.S., with events held in Saudi Arabia, Canada, Australia, France, Scotland, and Germany. The strategy has proven to be a successful formula for reaching fans in new markets. For 2025, WWE has already confirmed March’s Elimination Chamber in Canada as the first international event, with more announcements expected as the year unfolds.
With WWE going global in a big way, fans worldwide are about to get even closer to the action. From Saudi Arabia to Scotland, WWE is proving there are no borders when it comes to delivering epic matches and unforgettable moments. With Netflix now in the mix, the future of premium live events looks brighter—and bigger—than ever.
