Matt Cardona has been gaining attention recently with his appearances on ROH and AEW television, especially with his ongoing feud with Chris Jericho. There were reports suggesting that he was offered an AEW contract, and now Cardona has addressed whether he signed a deal with AEW or not.

While speaking to Steven Muelhausen on The Takedown, Matt Cardona revealed that he received a call asking if he was available for AEW and Ring of Honor shows, to which he responded with excitement, saying, “I’m always ready.” He emphasized the freedom of being a free agent, which has allowed him to appear in multiple promotions and challenge himself in new ways. He described this period of his career as incredibly fulfilling, with every opportunity treated as a major milestone.

“I got a phone call asking if I was available for a couple of AEW and Ring of Honor shows. I said, ‘I’m always ready’.

That’s the beauty of being not just a free agent, but the agent. I can show up anywhere against anyone at any time. That’s what’s made these past five years so much fun. I’m still doing all my weekend bookings, but I’m adding Ring of Honor and AEW to the mix. My whole career I’ve wanted to get to the top to be a world champion. Now, I have that opportunity. The biggest opportunity in my career. Matt Cardona versus Chris Jericho, Hammerstein Ballroom at Ring of Honor Final Battle. I am pumped.”

Regarding reports that he was offered an AEW contract, Cardona did not confirm or deny signing a deal. Cardona himself is focusing on the present, particularly his upcoming match against Jericho. He shared that he’s not concerned with signing any contract right now, preferring to take things one match at a time, emphasizing that success comes from treating every opportunity as a big deal.

“Listen, I cannot think about the future. I need to think one show at a time. I can’t be looking ahead. I need to focus day by day. That with independence, that’s what’s made me so successful is that I’m treating each opportunity like it’s the biggest deal. Because if I don’t treat it like it’s a big deal, then it’s not a big deal. So I go all in on every single thing that I do. I take one match at a time, one day at a time.”

The Indy God will challenge Chris Jericho for the ROH World Title at Final Battle 2024. This is certainly a big deal for Matt Cardona, who is looking to end Chris Jericho’s reign as ROH World Champion once and for all. Therefore, we will have to wait and see if Cardona will end up defeating Jericho and end up signing a deal with Tony Khan’s company, as fans certainly want that to happen.
