Ivar had been building momentum as a strong singles competitor in WWE but it came to a crashing halt after he sustained a serious neck injury earlier this year. While Ivar is back in the fold now, he has admitted that he is dealing with permanent nerve damage from the injury.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Ivar revealed that his neck mobility has largely returned, though he experiences stiffness due to another herniation. He attributes his recovery to yoga, which has helped him maintain a good range of motion.

Ivar noted that arm strength has fully recovered, but admitted that he has permanent nerve damage, adding that the nerve pain from his injury persists. Some days, the pain radiates down his arm, while on other days, he feels no discomfort at all.

“I’ve got most of my mobility back to my neck. It’s a little stiff now because I have another herniation, but I still have very good range of motion. I credit that to yoga, pretty much. All my strength has returned to my arm, I have no problems there. So it’s really just the nerve pain from the injury that I have that’s permanent. I do have permanent nerve damage and nerve pain in my hands, and that will never go away.

I have good days and bad days. Some days I can really feel it since it goes down my arm, but some days I feel nothing.”

Despite these challenges, Ivar and Erik have fought their way back to the top. On the December 16 episode of Monday Night RAW, the War Raiders won the World Tag Team Championships with help from Damian Priest. Their victory brought an end to the 188-day title reign of Finn Balor and JD McDonagh, a reign that included just three televised title defenses.

Ivar’s journey is a testament to resilience and determination, showing that success is possible even when facing lasting challenges. As the new champions, it will be interesting to see how he and Erik are booked in the weeks ahead, paving the way for a new chapter in WWE as we move into 2025.
