Ivar and Erik of the War Raiders have been a staple in WWE for years, consistently working together as a cohesive team. Like many tag teams in WWE, many fans feel the War Raiders breaking up is just a matter of time and now Ivar has addressed the possibility of the War Raiders splitting up.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Ivar was asked about him and Erik breaking up somewhere down the line. While admitting that The New Day are currently facing turmoil, they did stay together for a decade and Ivar believes he and Erik will never split up.
Ivar mentioned that while they could pursue individual opportunities, such as him going after the Intercontinental title or Erik aiming for another championship, these would only be side projects. Both are talented singles wrestlers, and Ivar’s recent singles run proved this. He emphasized that no matter what opportunities arise, they will always support each other and remain a team.
“I mean, New Day is going through their turmoil now, but for a decade on WWE television, New Day’s been together, and it’s never happened yet. So, I feel like we’re in the same boat. We’re not going to break up. Maybe we can do singles things on the side. Maybe if we don’t have a story in the tag division, something opens up for me, like the Intercontinental title, or maybe something opens up for Erik, like the Speed Championship—just one level below whatever I’m doing.
But I think we can do things because we’re both great singles wrestlers. I don’t think anyone realized that until I had this recent singles run, and he’s just as good. If the opportunity is there, it’s great, but I don’t see us splitting up. I think we’re always going to be there to support each other.”
As for the War Raiders right now, they won the World Tag Team Championships after defeating Finn Balor and JD McDonagh on the December 16 episode of Monday Night Raw, so it’s clear they will not be splitting up anytime soon and that is exactly what Ivar wanted to make clear, as he feels he and Erik will remain together forever.
