It has been more than a year since CM Punk was fired from AEW and the company has avoided associating itself with the Second City Saint as much as possible since then. However, it appears a fan has now alleged that he was verbally assaulted by security for wearing a CM Punk t-shirt during Dynamite this week.
A fan took to Twitter and alleged that they were verbally assaulted by event staff at the December 18th AEW Dynamite taping for wearing a CM Punk shirt. The staff allegedly yelled at them and threatened to remove them from the venue unless they either removed the shirt or wore it inside out.
“I just got verbally assaulted by event staff at tonight’s taping of @AEW Dynamite for wearing a @CMPunk shirt. Screamed at me and threatened to throw me out unless I took it off and turned it inside out.”
While AEW makes no references to CM Punk, there have been numerous instances where CM Punk chants have broken out during shows, especially during the All In pay-per-view this year.
The Second City Saint even felt he was done with professional wrestling following his AEW firing, but thankfully, he returned to WWE and is now one of the company’s biggest stars there for good reason.
Regardless, it is not known whether there is any truth to what the fan alleged as many people feel it is simply not something that would happen at AEW shows. This situation shows how CM Punk’s time in AEW still affects the company. Even though AEW has moved on, Punk’s presence is still felt, with his fans continuing to speak up.
What do you think this allegation made by the fan? Do you believe there is any truth to what he claimed? Let us know in the comments.
